WEALD OF KENT PROTECTION SOCIETY
ESTABLISHES JUBILEE FUND FOR 2012
|
| |
WKPS marks this year's Diamond Jubilee by setting up a special Jubilee Fund of £5,000. The purpose of the fund is to make grants and donations to groups and associations within the Weald who wish to do something special to mark Her Majesty's Diamond Jubilee. What do we mean by ‘something special'? Ideas that have been mooted include: Provision of village bench/noticeboard/map/sign, restoration of village pond, repairs to church/village clock, planting of community orchard/woodland/allotment facilities, repair/restoration of heritage buildings/historic landmark/feature (e.g. windmill, village pump), improvements to/redecoration of village hall/sports pavilions and so on.
We have a special interest in “green” projects, use of sustainable materials wherever possible, reclamation/repair/re-use of what already exists but also fresh new ideas to fill gaps within the community.
The scheme is NOT intended to fund work that would in all likelihood have to be carried out anyway. An example to illustrate the principle: a proposal for a new lamp may receive consideration whereas a new light bulb for an existing lamp will not. |

The spending will concentrate on village/rural/community projects which chime with WKPS' stated aims of sustaining and protecting the character of Weald and its communities and promoting it as a viable and vibrant living area.
To give this information as wide a circulation as possible to try and ensure that as many as possible know about this development, we will approach all local and regional media, use our own media, officers and membership and circulate all parish councils, borough councils, KCC and the 3 MPs that represent the Weald.
To give everyone time to think and reflect, we will be receiving applications up to June 30 2012 , decide on grants to be made in July and make payments to successful applicants in August.
All information and an application form necessary to draw up and file an application are on our website, www.wkps.org.uk/jubilee Just follow the link to Jubilee Fund and the information and application from can be downloaded in a matter of minutes.
